Blooms & Beauty: A Q&A with The Pressed Bouquet Shop by Element x JKo Beauty
One of my favorite things about the wedding industry is the connections you make with other vendors who are just as passionate about what they do as you are. It is so refreshing to connect and collaborate with fellow pros who immerse themselves into their craft to continue to provide the very best to their clients. That’s exactly how I’d describe my connection with the team at The Pressed Bouquet Shop by Element - a women-owned flower preservation studio based in Easton, PA that transforms wedding bouquets into stunning pressed frames and resin art.
We decided to sit down and ask each other some questions about our businesses, our creative worlds, and what we’d tell every bride. This is Part 2 of our conversation. Make sure to check out Part 1 on The Pressed Bouquet Shop’s blog HERE!
Q6: Walk us through your creative process - from the first client interaction to the finished result.
Jennifer, JKo Beauty: My creative process begins with my inquiry form where brides have an opportunity to share their inspiration or overall aesthetic with me! As an artist, I find inspiration and a creative charge from various things - it can be music, fashion, art, and so much more. This keeps my creative process fresh and open. When creating my bride’s look, or anyone else who is in my chair, it’s truly a collaborative process. I love when people give me full creative freedom but even then, I still consult with them to help determine what helps them feel fabulous. I also always allow people to see the process at any point and strongly encourage open communication. Once their makeup is completed, I also encourage them to let me know if there is anything they’d like added or adjusted. Makeup is a beautiful art form and what matters most to me is how my bride or anyone else feels when they see their finished look.
The Pressed Bouquet Shop by Element: It starts with a consultation - we learn about the bride’s wedding, her flowers, her style, and what she envisions for her preserved piece. After the wedding, she ships (or drops-off) her bouquet to our studio in Easton, PA. From there, our team carefully disassembles the bouquet and begins the preservation process. For pressed pieces, flowers are pressed over several weeks, then hand-arranged in a frame with the same care and artistry that went into the original bouquet. For resin, we also start by pressing the flowers, but then cast the flowers in crystal-clear resin to create functional pieces like coasters, ring dishes, and serving trays. The whole process takes time - but that’s what makes it worth it. We’re not rushing; we’re creating something meant to last a lifetime.
Q7: What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to someone starting a business in the wedding industry?
Jennifer, JKo Beauty: The wedding industry is VERY unique. Your commitment to a couple’s wedding day should be ironclad. There are no second chances, every vendor is important and makes a difference, and the demands of wedding days are much higher than any other day. My best piece of advice is to make sure that your heart is in the right place. I love the saying about loving what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life. Couples deserve to have people who are committed to providing their very best to their wedding day. Being a wedding professional is incredibly rewarding!
The Pressed Bouquet Shop by Element: Build genuine relationships with other vendors. The wedding industry runs on trust and referrals - and the vendors who do well long-term are the ones who lift others up, not just themselves. Also, be patient with growth. We’ve preserved over 16,000 bouquets, but that didn’t happen overnight. It happened one bride at a time, one beautiful piece at a time. Consistency and quality will always win.
Q8: How do you handle the pressure of working on something so meaningful to your clients?
Jennifer, JKo Beauty: With great care and preparation! As a bridal makeup artist, I am prepared for anything. I have endless stories of things that have “popped up” on wedding days. Some not even makeup-related situations that I’ve stepped in and been able to help make a positive difference. I chose to be in the wedding industry for a variety of reasons, the main one is to serve others. The question I always ask myself is, “how will this serve my bride or couple?” So while I am fully aware of many different pressures I experience while working with my brides and couples, ultimately I just want them to have the very best day. For me, keeping this mindset allows me to remain calm and peaceful as well as creative in problem-solving.
The Pressed Bouquet Shop by Element: Honestly, we lean into it rather than run from it. The pressure is real - a bride’s bouquet is irreplaceable. There’s no “redo” if something goes wrong. But that weight is also what makes the work so meaningful. Our team treats every bouquet like it’s the most important one we’ve ever received, because to that bride, it is. We’ve built our entire process around care, precision, and communication so that brides feel confident their flowers are in the right hands.
Q9: What’s one thing you’d tell every bride the night before her wedding?
Jennifer, JKo Beauty: To just be present and soak up every moment. When you wake up in the morning, give yourself the time and space you need to feel fresh emotionally, mentally and physically. For some brides, that’s a run or yoga, for some a relaxing shower, whatever it is - treat yourself to it!
The Pressed Bouquet Shop by Element: Designate someone - your maid of honor, your mom, your planner - to be in charge of your bouquet at the end of the night. So many brides tell us they wish they’d thought about it sooner. Your bouquet is going to be the last thing on your mind at the end of your reception (as it should be - you should be dancing!). But having someone who knows to put it in water, store it in a cool spot, and ship it to us the next business day makes all the difference in preservation quality. Enjoy your night fully. Let someone else handle the flowers.
Q10: What do you love most about collaborating with other wedding vendors?
Jennifer, JKo Beauty: I love a true collaboration, in my opinion, that’s what makes for the most magical wedding days. Each and every pro working to give their absolute best to our couple, together, because everyone makes a difference! I believe it’s a great honor for couples to choose and trust each of us to be a part of what will be one of the most significant and memorable days in their life. Being around and collaborating with other talented, like-minded professionals is energizing and inspiring.
The Pressed Bouquet Shop by Element: That we’re all working toward the same thing - making a bride’s day (and the memories from it) as beautiful as possible. We each play a different role, but it all comes together into one story. When a bride’s makeup is flawless, her flowers are stunning, her photos are perfect, and then months later she gets a preserved piece of that bouquet in the mail - that’s the full circle. Collaborating with vendors like Jennifer reminds us that we’re part of something bigger than just our own studio.
